Answer one before you install anything

Three easy ones about how FlashStudy works, on the card the app uses. Inside a module the questions are about balance sheets and Nash equilibria instead — the explanation underneath works the same way.

FlashStudy Card 1 of 3

When is the best moment to go over something again?

Three courses so far

Each one is a separate module you download inside the app, written against the course as it is actually taught and examined. More are in preparation.

Made for your module, not for everyone

A shared deck from two years ago covers someone else's course. This covers yours.

The whole module, and nothing else
Every topic your lecture examines is in there, and nothing that is not. You are never revising material that cannot come up, and never discovering a gap the week before the exam.
Questions that have been checked
Every question and every explanation is reviewed and signed off by someone who knows the subject before it reaches you. A wrong answer key is worse than no card at all.
Nothing to build first
No hunting down old exams, no copying slides into a deck, no typing cards at midnight instead of learning. Download the module and answer the first question a minute later.
The schedule is decided for you
Spaced repetition works out what you see each day, so preparation is a short session you actually finish rather than a plan you keep rewriting.
It moves with the semester
Switch on topics as the lectures cover them and widen the set as the term goes on. It works from week one, not only in the fortnight before the exam.

Inside the app

Explanations, not just answers

Each card shows the reasoning behind the right answer, so a miss teaches you something instead of leaving you to look it up.

Statistics by topic

See which topics you are answering correctly and which you are guessing, broken down per topic rather than as one blurred average.

Works on the train

A module downloads once and then runs entirely on your device. No signal needed, and no page waiting to load between cards.

A streak worth keeping

Answer correctly in a row to build a highscore, and put your best exam on the hall of fame. It stops feeling like revision.

Sit the exam before you sit the exam

Exam mode gives you a fixed number of questions on a clock, with no explanations until you finish. Leave early and the attempt is void, exactly like the real thing. At the end you get a scored summary, the questions you dropped marks on, and your best attempt to beat.

Exams always draw from the Essentials and Core material, so a mock is a fair read on where you stand rather than a quiz on the footnotes.

Choose how deep to go

Scopes are nested, so widening one never loses your progress.

Essentials
The cards that carry most of the marks. Start here if the exam is close or the module is new.
Core
Essentials plus the standard exam material. This is what the mock exams draw from.
Complete
Everything in the module, edge cases included, for a distinction rather than a pass.

Questions students ask

Is FlashStudy free?

Yes. Downloading the app and working through a module costs nothing, and there is no account required to start. A one-off in-app purchase unlocks the full question set of a module if you want it.

Which courses are covered?

Financial Accounting, Technology & Innovation Management, and Economics I (Microeconomics). Each is a separate module you download from inside the app, written against the course as it is taught and examined at German universities. Further modules are in preparation.

How do you know the answers are right?

Every question and explanation is written against the course material and then reviewed and signed off by someone with subject expertise before it is published. Each module has its own reviewers, and you can report a card from inside the app if something still looks wrong.

Can I study more than one course at once?

Yes. Modules are independent — each keeps its own repetition boxes, statistics and bookmarks, so a card you get wrong in Economics never affects your Accounting schedule.

Does it work offline?

Yes. A module is downloaded to your device once, and after that practice, exams and statistics all run without a connection. You only need internet to download a module or pull in an update.

What is spaced repetition?

It is a schedule that shows you a card just before you would forget it. Cards you answer correctly move to a box with a longer interval; cards you miss go back to box one and return the same day. The effect is that difficult material is repeated often and easy material stops eating your time.

Do I lose my progress when a module is updated?

No. When questions are improved you are offered an update inside the app, and your box positions, statistics and bookmarks are carried over.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad via the App Store, and Android phones and tablets via Google Play. The download button on this page checks your device and opens the right store.
